From shape to
exclusive title.
The sculptural shape of an object, the ornamental set of lines and colors applied to a product: that is industrial design. When protected, it becomes a temporary title of ownership with territorial exclusivity.
What we deliver.
Legal basis: Brazilian Law 9,279/96 (articles 94 to 121).
- Analysis of novelty and originality
- Preparation of formal drawings: front, side and top views
- Filing with the INPI (Brazilian Patent and Trademark Office)
- Multiple configurations in the same filing
- Combined strategy with copyright and three-dimensional trademark
- Defense against unauthorized copy, manufacturing and importation
Step by step, with method.
Each step documented, with clear deadlines and responsibilities from first contact.
Feasibility analysis
We confirm novelty and originality against the state of the art.
Technical preparation
Set of views front, side and top, in line with INPI rules.
Filing
Submission with Locarno classification (international system for industrial-design classes) and power of attorney.
Automatic grant
Industrial design is granted without prior substantive examination. Usually within 6 to 12 months.
Subsequent merit examination
May be requested by the holder or a third party to confirm the title's validity.
Maintenance
Protection of 10 years, extendable in three 5-year periods. Total of 25 years.
The shape that sets a product apart on the shelf is worth as much as what the product does.
Common questions in this practice.
A patent protects a technical solution (how something works). An industrial design protects an aesthetic solution (how something looks). One object can hold both protections simultaneously.
